It’s no different when choosing a CrossFit gym.
There are a number of considerations to make before you decide which CrossFit gym you should join, but we want that decision to be as stress-free as possible.
The purpose of this post is to share some considerations that need to be made before you decide to take the plunge.
Cost
Cost is, arguably, the most important consideration. You want to get fit, but you don’t want it to break the bank.
We get it.
While almost all gyms offer monthly fees, a few will offer drop-in passes so you can pay as you go.
At Grand Trunk, our pricing starts at $140 for a single to come three days a week, up to $285 per couple for unlimited usage.
While it is a significant investment, we think the cost is worth it and justifiable once you start to see results.
Proximity
You want to pick a gym that’s close to home or work, since those are the two places where most of us spend the majority of our time.
It’s important that you can fit in a workout in a reasonable amount of time without having to drive all the way across town.
Class Schedules
Whether coming before or after work, you want to pick a gym that offers flexible times. Most gyms will have classes that run throughout the day, with a focus on early morning evening times, since those are popular times.
At Grand Trunk, our earliest class is 5:30 a.m. and our latest class is 7:30 p.m. We think it’s important to offer a wide range of times, and we think this gives current and future members a wide selection to fit their lifestyle.
Is It Kid-Friendly?
A common complaint about regular gyms is that you can’t bring your kids because they don’t offer a spot where they can hang out while you work out.
At Grand Trunk, we have comfortable couches, a play area for smaller kids that is within view of the space where we work out, and WiFi throughout in case your kids are old enough to watch on a tablet while you do the WOD.
And once your kids watch how much you enjoy CrossFit, you can consider signing them up for CrossFit Kids, which is a great way to get them involved in staying fit at an earlier age.
Comfort Level
The ultimate consideration when deciding which CrossFit gym to join will likely come down to comfort.
In other words, does it make you want to come back?
One of the best things about CrossFit is that it gets you outside of your comfort zone, and those first few WODs can be uncomfortable when you’re doing unfamiliar movements in front of a group of people you don’t know.
That’s why we encourage all prospective members to sign up for a free, no sweat intro so you can meet us and decide if Grand Trunk is right for you.
CrossFit is not something you’re used to.
But we believe that once you visit Grand Trunk and learn what it’s all about, you’ll be eager to come back and give it your all.
